Like inside of Amazon! just 10 minutes away by driving from and to Volcano National Park! Very convenient, neat, clean and cozy place. I booked through their own website, which was very smooth, and paid by credit card when I checked in. The price was very reasonable! The room , mine in the pictures was Claudia's, was perfectly equipped and the queen sized bed was very comfy with heating pad underneath the sheet. No air conditioner needed at all because the air was so cool and fresh. Alan was very gentle, kind and responsive. The breakfast lanai was located right in front of the room and breads, cereals, bananas, papaya, pineapple were set for free! I would definitely recommend this guest house when you wanna stay in Volcano area. =)
We spent 8 delightful days based at Volcano Guest House (consisting of a number of separate cottages and houses) surrounded by rainforest and augmented by Bonnie's abundant plantings and Alan"s carpentry. The breakfast lanai was well stocked, in part with tropical fruit off the property. Located about 10 minutes from the entrance to HVNP, it was also an easy reach into Hilo and the flow fronts along the coast and the black sand beach at Punaluu toward South Point.
Absolutely wonderful place to stay! Bonnie met us to assist with settling in and gave us a tour of their property. The room (Twin II) was as stated and had all the amenities to actually 'live' there if one needed. Beautiful view out the bedroom (2 windows) of the forested area that lies beyond made you feel as if you were just part of nature. Large, well stocked Lanai and breakfast as well. Well away from the main highway provided a quiet getaway too. HIGHLY recommend this property to anyone!!
My family and I appreciated our stay at the Volcano Guest House... We stayed there for only two nights and found it to be quiet, charming, peaceful. A relaxing-cottage found in the rain forest. What a lovable stay, and wised we had stayed longer!... Our stay was enjoyed and would consider returning... Thank you
This is a lovely, quiet and calm place to stay. It is not far from the National Park and Volcano restaurants, though a car is recommended. It is a good place to explore from and to see this region of Hawaii. Our only concern was the lack of any hot water as it gets quite cool up here and a hot shower would have been grand. That said, we would highly recommend Volcano Guest House.
