My experience with this post office was horrible. I am visiting Volcano for 3 weeks and needed a way to receive mail. The gentleman on the phone was not willing to give me a temporary general delivery account as described on the website. avoid this place
They are nice here and answer any questions you may have.
Other reviewers need to do their homework before they ship mail General delivery.

This Post office is HORRIBLE. I moved into my New House a month ago. I did everything asked of me , change of address, etc. I even went into the Local Volcano Village Post office and spoke with them, a month ago. They told me there were no "local" post boxes available BUT I could rent one. They gave me the forms to fill out which I did and returned to be told there were no rental PO boxes available. I was told that I could just come in and pick up my mail. Three weeks go by NO MAIL! Two days ago I was told by a post office employee that unless the mail says "GENERAL DELIVERY" THEY RETURN IT! When I asked why no one had told me this before , there was no answer. So I went back in and changed my FORWARD address to include GENERAL DELIVERY. Today 10.14.16 I went back into Volcano Post OFFICE to let them know I was receiving a package from Amazon that did not have General Delivery on it AND NOT TO SEND IT BACK. The girl behind the counter said they only send letters back and not packages with street addresses and package would be held aND I WOULD BE CALLED WHEN IT CALLED IN. SO two hours later I get a text from Amazon saying my package is being returned from VOLCANO POST OFFICE due to incorrect address. Address was right and NO ONE CALLED ME, AND THE PACKAGE WAS MOST LIKELY THERE WHEN I WENT IN EARLIER!!!! yes i yelling!!!! What does a person have to do to get MAIL in VOLCANO VILLAGE? When I picked up the package I asked why was the Parcel marked to be delivered back to sender. With a SMILE she says "that's just what we do for Packages" and looks over my shoulder to call up the next customer. this post office is F'd UP! If I don't start getting my mail that is delivered to them soon , you WILL SEE ME LOOSING MY COOL IN THE POST OFFICE.
The hours listed are incorrect. They close at 1pm. You can enter the lobby and open P.O. Boxes at any time.
